Thorndale1 vs Neston1
Match Report by LYDIA PREECEA day so hot the league circulated the LTAs extreme weather policy! Neston 1s turn up on the tarmac of Thorndale tennis club, a familiar sight for super sub Rich Sutton who had flown in from Portugal just hours before.
With water bottles in hand, the match got underway with the ladies leading the charge in the first half. Highlights included collecting balls from shaded areas of the courts and Amber’s racket slipping out of her hand (on a winning forehand) and flying over the fence into a neighbours garden! Luckily she had a spare.
The Thorndale brothers proved to be tricky opponents as usual, but we managed to secure 3/4 wins by half time.
After a much needed hydration break, we were back on for the mixed - Emma and Heath stormed their match in 2 sets, whilst important points were scored at the top and bottom in 3 set battles.
Against Neston 1s bottom of the table rivals, an important 28-20 win was secured. Maybe Neston are hard courts players yet! And Amber even got her racket back!
