Match Report by LUKE CHITTENEDENNeston 4's battled in windy conditions on Tuesday night, and after much discussion and confusion over results in the bar afterwards, we decided that we had probably done enough for the win...and we were right!
Our ladies 1st pair Hannah and Fiona went down in straights 3-6 2-6 despite fighting hard, while our 2nd pair Maddie and Bella won an all important, close first set 7-6, lost the 2nd set 4-6, and unfortunately suffered a close defeat in the match tie break.
The men's 1st pair Ben and Luke won a 1st set tie break and managed to close it out 6-4 in the 2nd. Men's 2nd pair Will and Brian finished their match off quickly triumphing 6-2 6-1.
It was all to play for heading into the mixed, and it didn't get off to the best start with our 1st's Ben and Hannah going down 1 and 2.
Our 2nds were no more help with Fiona and Luke gaining a 5-3 lead in the first set only to lose the match 6-7 1-6. We were on the ropes a bit now...
Our 3rds Will and Maddie did brilliantly to win 2 close sets 4 and 4, leaving it all down to our 4ths Brian and Bella to try and secure the victory...
Youth and wisdom won out, and Bella and Brian came up clutch with a 6-1 6-2 win.
Neston 9 sets to 8, 26 pts to 22.
