With the 2s flying high at the top of the table, every match feels like a potential banana skin. No-one told our 2nd pairs of Steve/Jason and Mel/Grace though, as they clinically wrapped things up for the loss of just 9 games across their 4 straight set wins. Performance of the night goes to Jason who came within 2 games of pulling off the rare double double bagel.

At the top end, things were a little trickier with Matt/Andy coming from an early break down to secure a 4&3 win whilst Kathy/Rebecca came up just short in a marathon two set match. Things were a bit more straight forward in the mixed with Andy/Rebecca racing through a double bagel of their own whilst Matt/Kathy put in a superb performance to hand Hooton’s top pair a first mixed defeat of the season. A 42-6 win for the 2s and with Pinewood only picking up a 34-14 win, it extended the gap at the top to 50 points with just 4 to play
