The 5s trundled back to Upton for the second time in 48 hours to replay the abandoned fixture from a few weeks back. At stake was a top of the table clash , the expectations were high.

Brian gave a rallying motivational pep talk on the WhatsApp group, which Reece was extremely grateful for. The guys battled hard but came second, however the women dug deep to win in straight sets meaning all was square at the half way point.

30 minutes into the second matches and Pete and Ros appeared from their court tucked around the back. “Must have been a quick win” , we thought as they settled in to match tees. Reece and Jade took their first set and so did Maddie and George. Onwards and upwards it seemed to be a nail biter. An hour later Maddie and George battled to a 12-10 tie break win in the 3rd only to walk off court and learn everyone had been defeated. 28-20 loss. Some valuable points, and the quickest exit from post match refreshments I’ve ever seen.
