Neston1 vs Hoylake1

Match Report by andy heath

Neston welcomed Hoylake and produced a strong all-round performance, with plenty of drama, tight matches and a few talking points along the way.

Thom and Heathy dispatched their Hoylake opponents to the surprise of the visitors. There was also the welcome sight of Thom Jones rediscovering his serve, with spectators relieved to see that he had finally remembered how to hit one again.

The Ladies 1st pair were involved in one of the matches of the evening. After battling through an interesting line-call incident and then switching to the astro courts, they showed tremendous resilience to come through in three sets and it was great hard-fought victory.

The top two mixed rubbers were equally competitive, with little separating the pairs throughout. Tom and Rachel eventually emerged victorious after a gripping contest that was settled by a third-set tie-break, keeping their nerve superbly when it mattered most. Emma and Heathy, lost out in third set tiebreak.

Amber and Lydia were in commanding form in the ladies' doubles, securing a comfortable victory. Lydia and Guy were less fortunate in the mixed, playing some excellent tennis but ultimately ending up on the wrong side of a closely contested match.

Unfortunately, it wasn't the evening Coyle had hoped for. Despite battling hard throughout, he found himself on the receiving end of two straight-set defeats and will no doubt be looking to bounce back next week with two wins against Birkenhead.

Overall, Neston produced a strong team performance against a competitive Hoylake side, with several impressive wins and plenty of fighting spirit on display across the courts.

Final Result: 24-24
