Neston2 vs WallaseyM2

Match Report by JONNY THOMPSON

With the first half of the season concluded, and Neston 2 sitting a healthy 30 points clear at the top, a visit from Wallasey Manor was on the cards. With the first meeting ending in a 46-2 win to Neston it was going to be hard to top this time around!

The night started with a cameo Greenkeeper appearance from our very own Matt Murray. So desperate was he to improve his (already impressive) division average that he single-handedly replaced an entire net, fighting off hand cramps galore. That turned out to be an inspired decision as he and Rich demolished Wallasey’s pair in about 30 minutes, only dropping one game along the way! That was the theme for the first half of the night with the first four matches over in no time, a mere 9 games dropped combined!

The Neston dominance continued into the mixed, with all but one match over quicker than Coyle to a bar after a match! In a show of good sportmanship, Jonny and Mel decided to give Wallasey a ‘proper match’ and strung out their two sets as much as they possibly could, before Mel lost the ability to see, having both forgotten her glasses and sprayed herself in the eyes with bug spray. It didn’t matter though as Neston romped to only their second 48-0 win of the season, and extended their lead at the top of the table to 44 points! On to the next one!
