Neston1 vs Hooton1
Match Report by LYDIA PREECEThe threat of rain saw the 1s take to the clay for the first time for their 4th consecutive home game. Would this change of surface secure a win? In short, not quite, but the team certainly did their best to go for every point available.
Both teams came out swinging, but sadly the match against Hooton ended in an 8-40 loss, although the scoreline doesn’t quite tell the full story.
Neston welcomed the return of familiar face Jen Strong travelling back from across the pond. Hooton sadly also fielded a ‘strong’ team, however….
Big shoutout to Guy & Elliot, who battled brilliantly to bring home 6 valuable points. Heath and Emma also dug deep to secure a set after stepping things up midway through their match!
Despite the result, there were plenty of hard-fought games and enough “nearly” moments to keep hope alive throughout the evening. Heads never dropped and the team kept fighting right to the final ball.
Not quite the post-match chippy feast this week, but the crisp selection did step up when needed most.
Onwards to Heswall next week. Let’s go again!
