Hoylake2 vs Neston3

Match Report by SIMON PURCELL

Neston 3 suffered a tough away defeat at Hoylake 2 on Monday evening, with the hosts taking the match 6-3 on sets and 16-8 on points.

The highlight of the night for Neston came from Luke Chitteneden and Reece Crook, who produced an excellent performance to beat Chris Docherty and Robin Bartle in straight sets, edging a tight first set 7-6 before pulling clear to win the second 6-3.

Chitteneden and Crook were also involved in the closest contest of the evening against Adam Russell and Michael Burn. After taking the opening set 7-5, the Neston pair were pegged back 6-2 in the second before Hoylake edged the deciding match tie-break 10-3.

Elsewhere, Justin Hill and David Hayhurst battled hard but were unable to get on the scoreboard against strong Hoylake opposition, losing in straight sets to both pairings.

Despite the defeat, Neston showed plenty of resilience and will look to build on the positive performances in the coming fixtures.
