Heswall3 vs Neston3
Match Report by lloyd murphyLed the team out last night on a return to familiar territory. Neston 3s responded superbly away at Heswall 3s, bouncing back strongly after last week’s first defeat of the season.
Joe and I secured our men’s rubber 7–5, 6–4. Joe was composed from the outset, keeping unforced errors to a minimum and finishing points with some excellent winners during long, competitive rallies.
Jonny and Jason were up against two steady and awkward left-handers, including a Cheshire junior. They dealt with the challenge confidently, using their experience and quality to record a convincing 6–1, 6–3 win. Credit to Jason as well for playing through a bout of man flu following his latest cycling challenge.
It proved to be a tough evening for the ladies’ doubles, but Zoe, Issy, Shirley, and Molly showed great resilience throughout. They raised their level impressively in the mixed, contributing seven sets between them, which proved vital in securing a strong overall result for Neston 3s.
Final score: 32–16 victory.
